I have been interested in the vocabulary and expressiveness of hand and gestures since my first figure drawing class in college. I found the precision required to draw the hand was second only to the face. We read so much into hands, although subconsciously, that if anything is off or wrong it can throw our reading of an entire image.

I found some new software designed to create sliced models and got to work with Poser, a package designed to model the body. I settled on slices of hands, but as voids instead of solids. For me the void represents the absence of humanity, as the computer can never truly replicate or even understand the human essence
